After sweeping a mountain of GOTY awards last year, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has once again walked away with the top prize at the GDC Awards 2026 on the 12th (local time).

Launched in April 2025, this action RPG follows a group of brave souls standing against the Paintress, who awakens every year to wipe out humanity. With its unique blend of real-time and turn-based combat, accompanied by a soaring soundtrack and a dramatic narrative, it has earned widespread acclaim. At this year's ceremony, it secured a five-crown haul, taking home Best Debut, Best Audio, Best Visual Art, and Best Narrative alongside the ultimate Game of the Year title.

In other news, Blue Prince walked away with the Best Design and Innovation awards, while the Best Technology award went to Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. Meanwhile, the Social Impact award was claimed by Consume Me.

It is worth noting that Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has already established a habit of dominating major award circuits, having previously secured GOTY honors at the Golden Joystick Awards, The Game Awards, and the D.I.C.E. Awards.
