A new game has emerged that positions itself as a spiritual successor to 'Mirror's Edge', a title that garnered attention for its exhilarating parkour action.

Indie developer Viridian Matters recently revealed 'PANLINE' via their Steam page. PANLINE is a dystopian parkour action game where players take on the role of a 'Runner' to complete contracts and steal access rights or information hidden within the city. The fact that players traverse skyscrapers using parkour, combined with a color palette blending blue, red, and white, is reminiscent of Mirror's Edge.

The game proceeds by having players run through the city during the day to perform missions or collect items, and retreat to a hideout at night to repair and upgrade gear with the resources gathered. If a character falls to their death during a mission, progress and carried items are reset, requiring careful judgment. Additionally, because inventory space is limited, strategic management skills are needed to protect valuables and increase storage capacity using special kits.

The dynamic parkour action and exploration elements without a map also stand out. The game does not provide navigation or a map, and players must freely roam the non-linear open city relying solely on a compass, major landmarks, and their own vision. In the process, players can visit masters hidden throughout the rooftops to learn new parkour techniques, and previously locked areas may open once movement skills, gear, and social influence reach a certain level.
