Let’s be honest, we all know the drill: even with a 99% hit chance, you’re destined to miss. That iconic 'that's XCOM, baby' frustration is officially making its way from your PC to your tabletop.

London-based tabletop veterans Modiphius Entertainment announced via their official Bluesky channel on the 28th that they are working on a new XCOM board game. Having already left their mark with adaptations of Mass Effect and Fallout, they certainly have the pedigree for this sort of thing.

According to the teaser page and social posts, the project is officially titled 'XCOM: The Miniature Game'. While details remain thin, Take-Two is listed as a partner, and the branding clearly tips its hat to Firaxis Games' 2012 hit, XCOM: Enemy Unknown.

This isn't the first time the franchise has landed on a table; Fantasy Flight Games released an XCOM co-op title back in 2015. However, that version was more focused on base management and research than the gritty tactical combat. Given that Modiphius tagged their post with 'wargaming', we can reasonably expect this new entry to lean heavily into the squad-based skirmishes we know and love.
