Smilegate Future Lab is teaming up with the Gyeonggi-do Seongnam Office of Education to host "Future Lab," a digital maker training program designed for local youth. This is a public-private partnership model that combines the company's creative infrastructure with the education office's local resources, aimed at providing quality education and career exploration opportunities to students in the Seongnam area.

Future Lab consists of two tracks: the "Future B Makerthon" and the "Future B Challenge." The Future B Makerthon, aimed at students from the second year of middle school to the first year of high school, runs for two days starting August 6. Participants are tasked with identifying daily problems linked to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and building prototypes using micro:bits. The curriculum includes sensor data control, design thinking workshops, and intensive coding sessions, culminating in team presentations.

The Future B Challenge, tailored for fifth and sixth graders in elementary school, spans five weeks, held every Wednesday from August 19 to September 16. Students will document everyday issues and then bring their solutions to life as prototypes using OctoStudio, the mobile coding application developed by the MIT Media Lab.
