A story-driven indie game about a shut-in otaku trying to recover 'public funds' they accidentally squandered is making its way to ChinaJoy.

The Korean indie developer Kiwisaurus announced on the 25th that their latest project, Ruin Otaku, will be showcased at ChinaJoy. In this game, the protagonist is a hikikomori otaku who was in charge of a group order for collectibles, only to find that the collective funds had been foolishly spent on personal whims.

Players must hustle in various ways to recover the money, with over 20 different endings available depending on how they manage their stats. The game features a narrative steeped in Korean subculture, along with mini-games and an NPC affinity system. Players can experience the jarring gap between reality and fantasy by jumping between a monochrome real world and the vibrant, eccentric art style of the digital realm.

Meanwhile, Kiwisaurus announced that following their appearance at BitSummit 2025 in Japan, they are set to exhibit at Tokyo Game Show 2025 this coming September.
