Bungie has dropped a final video to mark the end of content updates for Destiny 2.

On the 13th, Bungie shared a new official trailer titled 'So Far, Together' on their YouTube channel. This 5-minute and 30-second retrospective looks back on the achievements of Guardians following the final content update, 'Into the Light,' which effectively closes a nine-year-long odyssey.

The video starts by weaving through the narrative leading up to The Witch Queen expansion. It leans heavily into the themes the series has always championed—loyalty, courage, and self-sacrifice—told through the voices of its characters. Midway through, we get a poignant look at the loss of allies like Cayde and Amanda, alongside the final preparations against the Witness, giving us a brisk tour of the series' core figures.

The clip captures the bond between the Guardians, chosen to protect humanity despite having no memory of their pasts, and their Ghosts. It’s a reflective moment that redefines what it means to be a Guardian, capping off with a heartfelt message to the players: "We'll see you among the stars, Guardian."

Launched in 2017 as the official successor to Destiny, the game became a cult favourite thanks to its addictive looting and raiding loops. While it certainly had its share of ups and downs—think the Content Vault and various communication blunders—the journey toward 'The Final Shape' and the confrontation with the Witness was largely considered a fitting send-off. However, Bungie announced in May that they were shifting focus to future projects, effectively halting development on Destiny 2. Many observers point to the lackluster performance of 'Marathon', released last March, as a contributing factor.

The farewell video has already clocked up 71,000 'likes' on YouTube. Fans are flooding the comments section with nostalgia; one noted, "The line about grief being strange really hits home," while others chimed in with, "I spent a third of my life on this series, it was an honour," "Destiny 3 needs to happen," and "Nine years—some say it's short, others say it's an age."
