Game Freak has finally pulled back the curtain on its new title, Beast of Reincarnation, confirming a launch window for this coming summer.

The reveal dropped during the Xbox Developer Direct on the 23rd. Beast of Reincarnation is an action RPG that reimagines Japanese myths and legends with a distinctly modern twist. Set in the distant future of 4026 in the eastern lands, the story follows Emma—a girl who can manipulate plants but has lost her memories and emotions—and her companion dog, Ku, who is considered a threat to the world.

As a 'Sealer' capable of absorbing the Blight, the source of all catastrophe, Emma embarks on a journey westward with Ku to find the Tree of Reincarnation, where the Blight originated. Along the way, they must hack through corrupted forests created by the massive beast known as Nushi, growing stronger as they push forward.

The combat leans into a collaborative 'one girl, one dog' action RPG system. Emma handles the swift katana strikes, while Ku provides tactical support. Successfully parrying enemy attacks earns points that fuel Ku's abilities; when you issue orders to your canine pal, the game slows down, giving you a moment to make a strategic call. You can choose between a standard mode, a high-stakes Hard mode, or a Story mode for those who just want to soak in the narrative.

Visually, it is quite the looker. The developers have adopted a 'moving ink wash painting' concept, using a modern engine to capture the texture of brushstrokes and the spread of ink. The soundtrack is just as curated, blending traditional instruments like the shamisen and koto with electronic beats. You will also find plenty of customization options, including Spirit Stones, katanas, and talismans to optimize your combat efficiency.

Beast of Reincarnation is set to launch this summer for Xbox Series X/S, PC, and PS5, with full official support for the Korean language.
